Postal Mail: a "Quick Guide" before your move
The United States Postal ServiceŽ (USPS) recommends that you file your Change of Address (COA) at least one month before moving.
Pick up a Change of Address (COA) card at your local Post Office, or
call 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777) and they'll mail one to you.
How do you know that your COA has taken effect?
As soon as USPS has processed your application, a "Change of Address Move Validation Letter"
will be sent to your old address to help guard against fraudulent COAs.
You should also receive a "Confirmation Letter" and/or a "Welcome Kit" at your new address to verify
your forwarding information.
You should anticipate a delay of 7-10 postal business days before your mail starts arriving at your new address.
How do you verify that your COA will work?
If possible, the most secure way of verifying that your COA is working is to
activate your mail forwarding before you relocate.
You can then confirm that your mail is arriving at your new address.
To do this test you need to:
(a) Have an active new address before relocating (b) Be able to receive notification of mail arriving at this new address Sound like a hassle? Let agCube make it easy!
